Comprehensive international epidemiological data on psoriasis now published
After years of hard work, the most comprehensive analysis of the national, regional, and worldwide epidemiology of psoriasis was recently published in the British Medical Journal. The research, conducted on behalf of the Global Psoriasis Atlas (GPA), is bringing attention to the global burden of psoriasis.
Data estimates of the prevalence of psoriasis for 189 countries included in the GPA highlight the unequal distribution across regions with psoriasis being more common in higher income countries and in regions with older populations. These new findings can help countries improve the care and management psoriasis. The GPA website is now updated to reflect this new evidence.
