Nansad Nep is a medical doctor and advocate living with plaque psoriasis, whose journey with the condition began unexpectedly in the winter of 2018 while in her fifth year of medical school in China. At just 22 years old, what started as a simple itch soon developed into painful flare-ups, sleepless nights and emotional struggles that deeply affected her confidence and daily life. One of the most difficult moments came when she chose to shave off her thick curly hair, something she cherished, in order to better manage the flakes and treatments affecting her scalp. Over the years, she has endured the physical pain of relentless itching and bleeding, as well as the emotional burden of isolation, embarrassment and misunderstanding. With no family history of psoriasis and no one around her who shared the experience, she faced much of the journey alone. Yet through every setback and recovery, she discovered resilience and a growing determination to ensure that others living with psoriatic disease feel seen, heard and supported.
Driven by both personal experience and medical knowledge, Nansad is passionate about raising awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding psoriasis and other chronic health conditions. As someone who understands both the clinical and emotional realities of psoriatic disease, she hopes to use her voice to reassure others that their struggles are valid and that they are not alone. She aspires to serve as a Psoriatic Disease Ambassador, advocating for the millions of people worldwide affected by the condition. Beyond her personal advocacy, Nansad has dedicated about two years to volunteering in sexual and reproductive health clinics as well as HIV and AIDS clinics, experiences that strengthened her compassion and commitment to patient-centered care. Her lived experience, empathy and dedication continue to shape her mission to support and empower people living with chronic illnesses.
