I have been living with psoriatic arthritis since the age of 12, approximately 30 years. I was badly hit by the condition and was bedridden for almost one year. It took so much strength, courage and determination to overcome my plight.
When I survived, I started to raise awareness in the general public. My stories were published in the media, including TV, radio, and social media.
In 2019, I participated in a beauty pageant to continue bringing awareness to the cause. I was crowned Miss Amazing Malaysia. The beauty pageant was recognized by 'Malaysia Book of Records.'
I am still constantly struggling with the condition, but that doesn't stop me from achieving my purpose in life. Besides my full time job as a human resources manager, I am also Deputy President to Psoriasis Association of Malaysia. I additionally work alongside industry partners and other NGOs doing patient advocacy. I also volunteer doing social services working alongside the Bahai community of Malaysia. Finally, I continue to mentor for the Miss Amazing Malaysia beauty pageant in the differently-abled category.
When I was a child going through the condition, there wasn't anyone to guide or motivate me except my family. Today, there is probably a child there, in my same shoes, waiting for someone to reach out to them. I wish to continue to touch many hearts and inspire them.
