Hello, I am Dr. Ayberk Aktaran, a member of the scientific executive board of the Turkish association. In this article, I would like to share our observations from the 7th IFPA Congress, also known as the World Psoriasis & Psoriatic Arthritis Congress,

This year, we represented the Turkish association alongside the Scientific Executive Board Chair, Prof. Dr. İlknur Kıvanç Altunay and our member Sertan Tiryaki. The congress’s scientific program was intense and diverse. We had the opportunity to meet physicians from various regions and examine how psoriasis is managed and treated in different countries. It was particularly gratifying to see that, compared to many other countries, our nation is in a more advanced position regarding access to biological drugs and specialist physicians. Collaborations allow us to take significant steps in the international fight against psoriasis.

During the congress, we met with patients from other countries, listening to their struggles and experiences. These interactions allowed us to exchange ideas on developing solutions to the problems faced by psoriasis patients in our country. We also examined international projects and took notes on how we could adapt new ideas, particularly in raising public awareness and project development, to our country.

On the last day of the congress, we represented the Turkish association at the member meeting attended by representatives of IFPA member associations. In this meeting, which featured presentations from six member countries, we presented our association’s work and projects on behalf of our country. We also participated in various teamwork activities during the member meeting.

IFPA 2024 went beyond being just a scientific congress; it provided a platform that brought patients and doctors together under one roof, encouraged the exchange of experiences, and combined scientific knowledge with practical approaches. We extend our gratitude to the management board of both the IFPA and the Psoriasis Association of Turkey and President Mustafa Yıldırım for their contributions during this process. By participating in such platforms, we will continue to enhance our knowledge and experience in combating psoriasis and work together to further raise awareness in our country.
