World Psoriasis Day 2021 - Belgium
28 January 2022
By Paul De Corte
As a WPD event, we organized a conference on October 23, 2021 to which all our members were invited. The purpose of the congress was twofold:
- In the forest of all treatments, informing our members about the most recent therapies for psoriasis. This was done through two plenary meetings (138 attendees). dr. Tom Hillary (University of Leuven) discussed all treatments from local to light and systemic treatments with all the innovations that took place. In the second meeting, Prof. Jo Lambert (University of Ghent) gave the latest state of affairs at biologics. She gave a lot of explanation about all biologics and the many scientific studies on psoriasis that take place at the University of Ghent.

- Answering a few recurring patient questions about
(a) the relationship between psoriasis and diet
(b) functioning of the specialized psoriasis nurse
(c) how and with which products can one optimally care for one's skin
The first two workshops were led by scientists from the University of Ghent who conduct research on nutrition and psoriasis and a doctoral assistant. The 3rd workshop (optimal skin care) was presented by a pharmacist.

The day ended in a fun and relaxing way with a quiz by a specialized company and the evening concluded with a reception. The attendees received a well-filled goodie bag with skin care products to take home, a gift from a dozen cosmetic companies.

The attendees received a lot of information, but they also had ample opportunity to get in touch with fellow sufferers.
