Great success of the Acción Psoriasis campaign "Unidos actuamos"

With the aim of placing the needs of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis patients on the media agenda in order to access the most innovative treatments and improve their emotional well-being, at Acción Psoriasis in Spain we created a campaign to diffuse these diseases that began on the same World Psoriasis Day, on October 29, and lasted until November 15.

Like every year, we join the awareness campaign promoted by the IFPA worldwide, with the aim of giving greater coverage and visibility to psoriatic disease.

Under the slogan “Unidos actuamos” (United we act), the Acción Psoriasis campaign focused on these messages:

- The importance for the patient of controlling and making the disease visible.

- The union in a collective that gathers and shows the needs that still remain to be covered by the affected people.

- Access to treatment, at a time when many affected are still not being treated or are not receiving the treatment required for their level of severity.

To reinforce these messages, the campaign was structured around activities such as conferences with dermatology, rheumatology, family medicine, hospital pharmacy and community pharmacy professionals. All activities can be consulted on our website www.accionpsoriasis.org, on our YouTube cannel (https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/user/accionpsoriasis) and on the association's social network profiles.

Among the topics discussed are psoriasis in children and young people and its emotional repercussions, the different types of treatments; the relationship with the patients with the family doctor, the referral to the specialist and the follow-up; the patient's interaction with the hospital pharmacist; the future of healthcare and patient participation in decision-making; the patient's attitude and lifestyles; and skin care.

The impact of the “Unidos actuamos” campaign on social networks was a complete success, managing to place some of the publications as those with the greatest reach and engagement throughout the year.

On Twitter, the humorous video of Nuria Gato, a psoriasis patient, received almost 75.000 views, 2.000 interactions, 380 likes and 97 retweets.

The infographic with the most notable data on the disease obtained 21.373 impressions, 129 likes and 99 retweets.

These metrics made the month of September the month with the most interactions on this platform, quintupling the impressions compared to the same month of the previous year (2020).

On Instagram, 11 posts and 31 stories were published with a reach that exceeded 15.000 impressions, almost a thousand comments and 64 people saved the posts.

On Facebook, 13 posts were published, the one with the greatest impact being the infographic on psoriasis, with a reach of 7.993 people, 351 reactions and 64 shares.

On YouTube, 7 videos were uploaded that reached almost a thousand views. The top 3 were the videos on therapeutic possibilities, psoriasis in children and the humorous morning news.

All of these posts were sourced organically thanks to the large number of followers on our social media.
