Founded in July 2014, the Foundation is based in Bologna but operates at a national and international level. The Foundation's main mission is research on psoriasis and its complications.
Psoriasis is a frequent condition in Italy: the prevalence is between 1,8% and 4,8% and the incidence is between 107,742 and 230,62 per 100.000 person-years. The most frequent comorbidities associated to psoriasis are: diabetes, hypertension, obesity, depression, cardiovascular diseases, hypertriglyceridemia, and hypercholesterolemia. The quality of life and severity of the disease are mostly affected by other concurrent diseases, early onset of the disease, low income, and low level of education.
