Abstracts submission guidelines

The Scientific Executive Committee of the 8th IFPA Conference welcomes abstracts for poster and oral presentations within the fields of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (Psoriatic Disease) in clinical practice, research and advocacy.

Period for submission of abstracts

The portal for submitting abstracts is open between the 1st of October and the 15th of November 2026, 23:59 CET. 

By submitting an abstract, the authors guarantee that the abstract describes unpublished results and that human and experimental studies have been undertaken with the appropriate ethics approval and official permission from the proper authorities.

•    Psoriasis and comorbidities
•    Biomarkers and imaging
•    Pathophysiology and immunobiology
•    Current and new therapeutic modalities 
•    Epidemiology and Genetics
•    Health economics and health policies
•    Interesting clinical cases
•    Quality of Life or Patient-related Outcome Measures (PROMs)
•    Underserved groups
•    Patient organization projects/Patient research partners

Submission Guidelines

•    Deadline for submission is November 15, 2026, at 23:59 (Central European Time).
•    Abstracts must be submitted electronically via the link, which will be provided on October 1st. Note that any changes to the abstract are allowed until the submission deadline is reached. 
•    The presenting author must attend the conference. Authors are allowed to submit multiple abstracts, but are only allowed to be presenting author for two abstracts.  
•    Industry authors can prepare and submit abstracts, indicating this information in the corresponding box. 
•    Disclosure of potential conflict of interest and sources of funding are mandatory for presenting authors. Oral presenters will also have to incorporate a disclosure slide in their presentation (a template will be sent with the presentation guidelines).
•    Encore abstracts are allowed, as long as:
      o    The underlying work has not been published as a full manuscript
      o    Significant additional data/findings have been made since the original publication, and the publication is clearly cited in the abstract submission.
 

Types of submissions

•    You can select oral or poster presentation as preferred presentation type. Please note that the oral presentation slots are limited, and that the selection will be made by the abstract committee, whose decision is final.
•    Accepted abstracts must have a poster, even if selected for oral presentation.
•    Oral presentations must be given by one of the authors of the publication. Each author may serve as Presenting Author for a maximum of two oral abstracts. Poster-presenting authors must be available at their poster during the allocated poster session.
•    Information on formatting and submission of posters will be included in the acceptance note. 

Instructions for abstract preparation 

•    The abstract must be written in English.
•    The title or text is not to indicate the country of origin unless it is pertinent to the topic.
•    The length of the abstract is limited to 300 words, excluding the title and contact information of authors. 
•    The structure of the abstract should be as follows:
a) Introduction
b) Objectives – Aim of investigation.
c) Methods – Study design, patients or animals, methods of investigation and analysis, etc.
d) Results – Results of research with specific data and statistical significance.
e) Conclusions – Conclusions drawn from the results obtained.  Statements like results are under discussion are not acceptable.
f) References – References relevant to the research described, to a maximum of 3, are accepted.
•    A maximum of 1 table or figure may be included in the abstract. These must be referenced in the abstract. 
•    It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract. Errors in spelling, grammar, or scientific facts will be published as typed by the author, if accepted. Poor English may be a cause for rejection.

Abstracts not eligible for submission

•    An abstract is ineligible for consideration if it reports work that has been previously published. This includes information such as full-length article, brief report, case report, concise communication, or letter to the editor, etc. Abstracts previously presented at other meetings will be considered.
•    Only one abstract may be submitted per study. Multiple abstract submissions, representing the same study, even if presented in different formats or with minor variations, are not permitted and may be withdrawn without notice.
•    Submissions will be withdrawn without notice if they include any commercial/promotional messages or corporate logos.

Review Process

The review committee, composed of an experienced group of clinicians and researchers, will evaluate the significance, innovation, methodological quality, and clarity of the abstracts.
The committee reserves the right to decline any submitted abstracts that lack scientific content or merit, or that merely announces the availability of a resource or service.

App and Scientific Journal

All accepted abstracts will be presented and available on the conference app.
All participants with an abstract chosen for presentation are invited to submit a high-resolution file of their poster prior to the congress, to have the abstract presented in our conference app.
All participants with an abstract chosen for presentation are also offered the possibility of having their work printed in a Scientific Journal.

Poster Prizes

Outstanding posters are eligible to receive an award, according to the following categories:
•    Best scientific poster
•    Best clinical poster
•    Best patient organization/society poster
•    Best poster from junior investigator/researcher (this category includes undergraduate or graduate students, postdoc or trainee resident/fellow)

Poster prize winners are announced on Saturday the 9th of May, at 15:05.
The recipient of the prize in each category will receive a diploma and free registration for the next IFPA Conference. The award ceremony is scheduled for the final day of the conference. Please note that encore abstracts/posters will not be eligible for these awards.

What happens after submission

After successful abstract submission, you will receive a confirmation e-mail that includes the submission ID number. This e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address of the Presenting Author stated during the submission. If a confirmation e-mail is not received within 24 hours of submission, please contact us on e-mail address abstract@ifpa-pso.com 
The Presenting Author will receive all correspondence concerning the abstract and is responsible for informing the other authors of the status of the abstract.

Information about acceptance/rejection of the abstracts will be emailed on the first week of January 2027.

All presenting authors must register as conference attendees and pay the applicable registration fee. 

Presenting authors of accepted abstracts will have the opportunity to register at the Early Registration fee and must do so by January 17, 2027, to ensure that an accepted abstract is included in the conference proceeding publication. A dedicated registration link will be sent to the presenting authors of the accepted abstracts. 
Poster or oral presentation guidelines will be shared with the presenting authors following the notification of decision and on the conference website.

Embargo policy

The conference embargo policy specifies that while authors may publish the fact that their abstract has been selected for inclusion in the conference program, they may NOT share data from the abstract in any form (print, broadcast or online publication, media release or conference presentation) before its official release at IFPA 2027 conference. Authors may not share any data or key takeaways from the abstract before the official release at the IFPA Conference on May 20, 2027, at 08:00 CEST. This includes print, broadcast or online publications, media releases or conference presentations.

2024 Abstracts Available

The 2024 IFPA Conference witnessed a remarkable increase in abstract submissions, with over 190 abstracts received. Among the submitted abstracts, a notable number achieved and were recommended for oral presentations. The trend of increasing quality in submissions is a positive development that has been consistently observed over the past few meetings. The Abstracts were published in the Acta Dermato-Venereologica with manuscripts focused on psoriatic disease and comorbidities.
